ST. PAUL'S APOSTOLIC JOURNEY

Day 1 – Arrival in Athens

• Arrival at Athens Airport; meet and transfer to your vehicle.

• Enjoy a comfortable drive to a local Indian restaurant for lunch.

• Check in at hotel and settle in.

• Evening at leisure to relax.

• Dinner at an Indian restaurant and overnight stay in Athens.

 

Day 2 – Athens City Tour & Ancient Corinth

• Breakfast at the hotel.

• Explore Athens on a guided city tour:

  • Acropolis: Parthenon, Erechtheum, and Propylaea.

  • Mars Hill: where St. Paul preached.

  • Agora: ancient marketplace and public center of Athens.

• Lunch at an Indian restaurant.

• Drive to Ancient Corinth with a stop at the Corinth Canal.

• Explore Corinth:

  • Archaeological Museum, Market Place, Bema, and Temples.

  • Learn about St. Paul’s 18-month mission and his work with Aquila and Priscilla.

  • Pass by the ancient port of Cenchrea on the return journey.

• Dinner at an Indian restaurant; overnight in Athens.

 

Day 3 – Delphi & Meteora

​

• Breakfast, check out from hotel.

• Transfer to Delphi, the “Center of the World”:

  • Visit the Temple of Apollo, Treasury of the Athenians, and Delphi Museum.

  • Learn about the Oracle and Greek mythology.

• Lunch at a local restaurant.

• Visit Monastery of Osios Loukas en route.

• Continue to Kalambaka, at the foot of the stunning Meteora rock formations.

• Check in at hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

 

Day 4 – Meteora, Veria & Vergina – Thessaloniki

​

• Breakfast, check out from hotel.

• Visit Meteora Monasteries perched atop dramatic cliffs; admire Byzantine art.

• Drive northwards, visiting:

  • Veria: lunch and city exploration.

  • Vergina (Aigai): ancient Macedonian capital; visit the museum and royal tombs, including that of King Philip II.

• Arrival at Thessaloniki, check in at hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

 

Day 5 – Thessaloniki City Tour

• Breakfast at hotel.

• Guided tour of Thessaloniki, where St. Paul founded the first church:

  • Basilica Church and St. Demetrius Crypt.

  • Church of St. Sophia and Old City Walls.

  • Vlatadon Monastery, White Tower, and Triumphal Arch of Galerius.

• Lunch at a local restaurant.

• Free time in the afternoon; attend Mass at Catholic Church (if possible).

• Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

 

Day 6 – Philippi & Kavala

​

• Breakfast at hotel.

• Visit Philippi, site of St. Paul’s first European sermon:

  • Baptistery of Lydia; participate in a renewal of baptismal vows (outdoor Mass).

  • Explore the marketplace, cistern, and ancient theatre.

• Lunch in Kavala; explore the city, also known as Christoupolis, first European city to accept Christianity.

• Visit Roman Aqueduct and Kavala Acropolis.

• Check in at hotel, dinner, and overnight stay in Kavala.

 

Day 7 – Kavala – Athens Walking Tour

​

• Breakfast and transfer to Kavala airport for flight to Athens.

• Arrive in Athens; lunch at an Indian restaurant.

• Check in at hotel and refresh.

• Afternoon walking tour of historic Athens churches:

  • Russian Church, Monastiraki Square, Kapnikarea Church.

  • Attend Mass at Catholic Cathedral (if possible).

• Dinner at Indian restaurant and overnight stay in Athens.

 

Day 8 – Departure from Athens

​

• Breakfast at hotel, check out, and transfer to Athens Airport.

• Fly back home with lasting memories of a spiritual journey through Greece.
