ITINERARY

DAY 1-2: TOKYO

​

  • Spend your first two days exploring the vibrant capital city.

  • Visit major attractions such as Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and the bustling Shibuya Crossing.

  • Explore diverse neighborhoods like Harajuku, Shinjuku, and Ginza for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

  • Optional: Take a day to visit teamLab Borderless or Ghibli Museum if you're interested in unique art and animation.

DAY 3: SIDE TRIP TO NIKKO

​

  • Take a day trip to Nikko, about 2 hours from Tokyo by train.

  • Visit Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the opulent resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

  • Explore Kegon Falls or Lake Chuzenji if time permits.

  • Return to Tokyo in the evening.

 

DAY 4: TOKYO TO HAKONE

  • Travel to Hakone by train or bus (about 1.5–2 hours).

  • Enjoy the scenic views of Mount Fuji, weather permitting.

  • Relax in an onsen (hot spring) and explore attractions like the Hakone Open-Air Museum or Hakone Shrine.

  • Stay overnight at a ryokan or hotel.

DAY 5-7: KYOTO

​​

  • Travel to Kyoto via shinkansen (approximately 2–3 hours). Stay for three nights.

  • Visit iconic landmarks like Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

  • Explore Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Togetsukyo Bridge.

  • Take a stroll in the historic Gion district and catch a glimpse of geisha culture.

DAY 8: SIDE TRIP TO NARA

​

  • From Kyoto, take a short train ride to Nara (about 1 hour).

  • Visit Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha statue, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine.

  • Spend time in Nara Park, feeding the friendly (and cheeky) deer.

  • Return to Kyoto in the evening.

DAY 9: KYOTO TO MIYAJIMA VIA HIMEJI

​

  • Take the shinkansen to Miyajima, stopping at Himeji along the way.

  • Explore Himeji Castle, Japan’s most famous and best-preserved castle.

  • Continue to Miyajima and take the ferry to the island.

  • Visit Itsukushima Shrine and see the iconic "floating" Torii gate. Stay overnight at a ryokan on the island.

DAY 10: MIYAJIMA TO KANAZAWA VIA HIROSHIMA

​

  • Take the ferry back to Hiroshima.

  • Visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, as well as the Atomic Bomb Dome.

  • Continue to Kanazawa (approximately 4–5 hours by train).

DAY 11: KANAZAWA

​

  • Spend a full day exploring Kanazawa’s cultural and historical sites.

  • Visit Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan’s most beautiful landscape gardens.

  • Explore Kanazawa Castle, Higashi Chaya District, and the Nagamachi Samurai District.

 

DAY 12: KANAZAWA TO SHIRAKAWAGO

  • Travel to Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by bus (about 1.5 hours)

  • Explore the village’s traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses.

  • Stay overnight in one of the farmhouses for an authentic experience.

DAY 13: SHIRAKAWAGO TO TAKAYAMA

​

  • Head to Takayama (approximately 1 hour by bus).

  • Wander through Takayama’s well-preserved old town, visit Takayama Jinya, and explore the morning markets.

DAY 14: TAKAYAMA TO TOKYO

​

  • Spend your morning exploring more of Takayama’s attractions.

  • Return to Tokyo via train (about 4.5–5 hours).

  • Conclude your trip with last-minute shopping or dining in Tokyo before your departure.

SENSO-JI TEMPLE

Senso-ji Temple, located in Asakusa, Tokyo, is's oldest and one of its most significant temples, attracting millions of visitors each year. Founded in 645 AD, this vibrant site is dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. Visitors can explore the iconic Kaminarimon Gate, the bustling Nakamise shopping street filled with traditional snacks and souvenirs, and the serene temple grounds. Nara Park, an incredible gem in the heart of Nara, Japan is an absolute must-see for any traveler!
