ITINERARY

​​DAY 1-2: TOKYO

​

  • Explore iconic sites such as Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and the Imperial Palace. Dive into neighborhoods like Shibuya, Harajuku, and Akihabara for unique shopping and entertainment experiences.

​​DAY 3: EXCURSION TO NIKKO

​

  • Take a 2-hour train ride to Nikko. Visit Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site adorned with intricate carvings and gold leaf, and explore nearby attractions like Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. Return to Tokyo in the evening.

DAY 4: EXCURSION TO KAMAKURA

​

  • Head to Kamakura, about 1 hour by train from Tokyo. Discover the Great Buddha (Daibutsu), serene Hasedera Temple, and the historic Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. In summer, enjoy the sandy beaches before returning to Tokyo.

 

DAY 5: EXCURSION TO YOKOHAMA

  • Visit Yokohama, just 30 minutes from Tokyo. Explore the lively Minato Mirai waterfront area, Cup Noodles Museum, and the Red Brick Warehouse. Don’t miss Chinatown, one of the world’s largest, for incredible food.

DAY 6: TOKYO

 

  • Spend a relaxing day in Tokyo, revisiting favorite spots or trying new experiences like teamLab Planets or Tokyo Skytree.

DAY 7: TOKYO TO HAKONE

 

  • Travel to Hakone (about 1.5–2 hours by train).

  • Enjoy stunning views of Mount Fuji from Lake Ashi or the Hakone Ropeway.

  • Visit the Hakone Open-Air Museum to admire unique art installations in a scenic setting.

  • Relax in a traditional ryokan and soak in an onsen.

 

DAY 8: HAKONE TO FUJI FIVE LAKES

  • Continue to the Fuji Five Lakes region at the northern base of Mount Fuji (approximately 2 hours by train or bus).

  • Explore Kawaguchiko for panoramic views of Mount Fuji and visit the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum.

  • Thrill-seekers can enjoy Fuji-Q Highland, a popular amusement park with record-breaking roller coasters.

  • Stay overnight in the area at a hotel or ryokan with onsen access.

 

DAY 9: FUJI FIVE LAKES TO MATSUMOTO

 

  • Travel to Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture (about 2.5 hours by train).

  • Visit Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan’s most beautiful original castles with a striking black facade.

  • Explore the Nakamachi District, known for its Edo-era buildings, charming shops, and local delicacies.

  • Stay overnight in Matsumoto.

 

DAY 10: MATSUMOTO TO YAMANOUCHI

 

  • Head to Yamanouchi (approximately 2 hours by train and bus).

  • Visit Jigokudani Monkey Park to see wild snow monkeys soaking in natural hot springs.

  • Stay in a traditional ryokan in one of Yamanouchi’s hot spring towns, like Shibu Onsen or Yudanaka Onsen.

 

DAY 11: YAMANOUCHI TO KUSATSU ONSEN

  • Journey to Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture (about 3–4 hours via train and bus, depending on the route).

  • Relax in the famous Yubatake (hot water field) and enjoy the high-quality hot spring baths the town is renowned for.

  • Spend the night at a ryokan or hotel in Kusatsu.

  • Note: The shortest route between Yamanouchi and Kusatsu is closed during the winter, so plan accordingly.

 

DAY 12: KUSATSU TO TOKYO VIA KARUIZAWA

 

  • Before departing, enjoy a final soak in Kusatsu’s rejuvenating hot springs.

  • En route to Tokyo, consider stopping in Karuizawa, an upscale mountain resort known for its shopping outlets, scenic nature trails, and modern art museums.

  • Arrive in Tokyo in the evening, wrapping up your journey with some last-minute shopping or dining before departure.
