ITINERARY

DAY 1: TOKYO TO YAEYAMA ISLANDS

​

  • Fly from Tokyo to Ishigaki Island in the Yaeyama archipelago, Okinawa.

  • Check into your hotel or guesthouse. Relax and explore nearby areas like Euglena Mall or Painushima Ishigaki Port.

​

DAY 2-3: YAEYAMA ISLANDS

​

  • Spend time discovering Ishigaki Island, including Kabira Bay and Tamatorizaki Observatory.

  • Take day trips to Iriomote Island for jungle trekking or kayaking and to Taketomi Island for its traditional Ryukyu village and pristine beaches.

 

DAY 4: YAEYAMA TO KAGOSHIMA

  • Fly to Kagoshima and settle into your accommodation.

  • Explore Kagoshima City in the evening, perhaps visiting Tenmonkan for dining or shopping.

DAY 5: KAGOSHIMA AND SAKURAJIMA

​

  • Take a ferry to Sakurajima, an active volcano, and explore its trails, lava fields, and observatories.

  • Return to Kagoshima and relax in a local hot spring.

DAY 6: KAGOSHIMA TO KUROKAWA ONSEN VIA MOUNT ASO

  • Travel through Kyushu, stopping at Mount Aso to see its caldera and volcanic activity.

  • Continue to Kurokawa Onsen, staying in a traditional ryokan with access to open-air hot springs.

DAY 7: KUROKAWA ONSEN TO FUKUOKA

  • Depart for Fukuoka. Explore attractions like Canal City, Ohori Park, or Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.

  • Enjoy the evening at Fukuoka’s famous yatai food stalls.

DAY 8: FUKUOKA TO HIROSHIMA

  • Travel to Hiroshima and visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum.

  • Take a ferry to Miyajima Island to see the iconic "floating" Torii gate. Stay overnight if possible.

DAY 9: HIROSHIMA TO OSAKA VIA HIMEJI

  • Stop at Himeji Castle, Japan's most famous and well-preserved castle.

  • Continue to Osaka, where you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife and street food in Dotonbori.

DAY 10: OSAKA TO KOYASEN

  • Head to Koyasan, a sacred site of Shingon Buddhism.

  • Visit Okunoin Cemetery and stay overnight at a temple lodging, experiencing vegetarian monk's cuisine.

DAY 11-13: KYOTO

  • Travel to Kyoto and spend three days exploring its cultural treasures.

  • Visit iconic sites like Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), Fushimi Inari Shrine, and Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.

  • Enjoy traditional tea houses and stroll through the Gion district.

DAY 14: DAY TRIP TO NARA

  • Take a day trip to Nara to visit Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Nara Park, where you can feed the roaming deer.

DAY 15: KYOTO TO KANAZAWA

DAY 16: KANAZAWA TO SHIRAKAWAGO

DAY 21-23: KUSATSU TO TOKYO

DAY 24: TOKYO TO NYOTO ONSEN

DAY 25: NYOTO ONSEN TO HIROSAKI VIA HACHIMANTAI

DAY 26-27: HIROSAKI TO SAPPORO

DAY 28-29: SHIRETOKO PENINSULA
